Going Out in Style: Celebrating 70 years of Beth El
Septuagenarian North Suburban Synagogue Beth El in Highland Park welcomed more than 300 of its flock Oct. 21 to celebrate seven decades of serving the community.
Envisioned by 16 families after the end of WWII and the Holocaust, and even before the establishment of the State of Israel, the congregation received its charter in 1947.
Today, it is the spiritual home to 1,100 families. Throughout the next year there will be concerts, lecturers, reunions and other opportunities to tell the story of its founders and celebrate 70 years of achievements; many open to the public.
